Meet Your Instructor

Dr Jillian Stansbury is a naturopathic physician who retired in 2025 after 35 years in practice, but continues to work in academia and professional writing projects. She was the former Chair of the Botanical Medicine Department at NUNM and remains on the faculty to lead several herb walks each year. She ran a multidisciplinary Healing Arts facility in Battle Ground, WA that included a professional medical apothecary. She started the university's first ethnobotanical curricula that included field studies in the Peruvian Andes and Amazon where she has studies with several indigenous communities for 20 years, Dr Stansbury is the recipient of the Vis Award from the AANP, the Order of the University from NUNM, the Freddi Kronenburg award from the American Botanical Council, and her academic textbook series, Herbal Formularies for Health Professionals was the recipient of a James Duke Award for Excellence in Botanical Medicine. Since retiring she has been immersed in fixing up an old farmstead, establishing extensive gardens, painting barns, raising chickens, and fencing pastures for goats.
